The 2112 Group’s Larry Walsh Kicks Off Channelnomics’ Cloud Conference
“Cloud is not only present in the channel, but the market is entering its second era, Larry Walsh, CEO and chief analyst at The 2112 Group, told attendees of Channelnomics‘ Channel Conference: Cloud in New York City today.
It seems there’s no more room for doubting the cloud, as even Walsh, who admitted to being a cloud skeptic 10 years ago, is saying that the cloud is not just a marketing push, but a real force to be reckoned with by the channel.”
“[Marketers] convinced us that anything’s possible in the cloud so long as you put enough pixie dust on it [and] there are unicorns and rainbows and fairies and anything is possible. I, for one, was one of those people who said no,” Walsh said during today’s event.
“Ten years ago when we first started talking about cloud like this I was the one who stood up and said the cloud is a myth – it’s just a server in somebody else’s datacenter. It’s not true. The cloud is quite real and it’s changing the way we work, changing the way we consume and for all of us here in the room, it’s changing the way we engage.”
And if Walsh’s words aren’t enough to convince you of the cloud, the executive presented 2112 Group research showing that 95 percent of the market is engaged in some form of cloud computing, with 71 percent being in hybrid cloud.”
