Broadline Distribution

The distribution of a wide array of products from a single source. Often touted as “one-stop shops,” broadline distributors typically offer solution providers a large inventory of diverse offerings and are highly efficient in logistics and product delivery.

By contrast, specialty distributors offer fewer product lines, focusing on specific vertical markets, business solutions, or technology sets, and delivering value-add services around those specialties. In recent years, the broadline and specialty distribution models have converged somewhat as the traditional broadline players (Ingram Micro and Tech Data, for example) develop specialized business units and focus more on value-add services.
